Tesla has recently enhanced its popular Light Show feature, introducing several new capabilities that allow for more personalized and creative light animations, particularly benefiting owners of the Cybertruck and the Model 3 Highland.
Tesla has recently committed new code to its Light Show Github repository that reveals several additional Lightshow features and shares specifications for others.
Tesla hosts the software for building Lightshows on GitHub, an open-source code repository. The new code was added five days ago, but given that this is a change to the actual software and not an on-vehicle change, we’re not sure whether the features below will be available for immediate use or will be available in a future software update.
Extended Light Show Duration
The maximum length of a light show has been increased to up to four hours, providing developers and enthusiasts with expanded opportunities to craft elaborate and impressive designs.
Individual LED Control
A notable advancement is the ability to control individual LEDs in the front and rear lights:
Front Light Bar: Each of the 60 LEDs can be managed separately, enabling animations such as the iconic "Knight Rider" effect.
Rear Light Bar: Similarly, all 52 LEDs are individually adjustable, offering creative minds numerous possibilities to design unique light patterns.
Additionally, the Cybertruck's off-road light strip, composed of six segments, can now be controlled individually. This feature is included in the Holiday Update and will be available for standard Cybertrucks through the Tesla store in the future.
Interior Color Accents
Tesla has expanded customization options within the vehicle's interior:
Center Display in RGB: During the Light Show, the central display can illuminate the interior in any chosen color.
Ambient Lighting: Divided into five RGB segments (front, left, right, rear), owners can personalize colors for different areas, enhancing the in-cabin experience.
Compatibility and Availability
These enhancements are part of the Holiday Update and are compatible with software version 2024.44.25 and higher. While the Cybertruck and Model 3 Highland gain the most from these new features, older models like the Model S and Model X can utilize certain aspects, such as the RGB Center Display.
A Unique Feature for Tesla Enthusiasts
The Light Show serves as more than just entertainment; it fosters community engagement among Tesla owners. The ability to individually control lights and set colors distinguishes Tesla's offerings from other manufacturers. Whether celebrating holidays or special occasions, these updates elevate the Light Show to a new level.
Conclusion: Tesla Elevates the Light Show Experience
With these new features, Tesla continues to showcase its commitment to creative and innovative software solutions. These enhancements empower owners to further personalize their vehicles and captivate the community with impressive light animations.
